Two airlifted following wreck that blocked Highway 104 near Chimacum

Crash, investigation shut roadway for nearly five hours

CHIMACUM — Two people were airlifted Monday after a two-vehicle collision that blocked state Highway 104 at Center Road near Chimacum for nearly five hours.

In a bulletin at 2:49 p.m. Monday, the state Department of Transportation said the highway was blocked in both directions at milepost 4.38.

The State Patrol said on Twitter later Monday afternoon that two occupants had been airlifted and that the roadway was closed while the scene was investigated, a process that included the use of a drone.

A detour was in place using U.S. Highway 101 and state highways 20 and 19.

Impairment is suspected in the wreck, according to State Patrol.

Transportation issued a bulletin at 7:25 p.m. saying the roadway had been cleared.

More information was not immediately available Monday but will be posted here as it is released.
