NEWS BRIEFS: Practice times set for naval landings … and other items

COUPEVILLE — There will be field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island at the outlying field late evening to late night today through Thursday.

Aircraft carrier-based flight training also will occur at Ault Field on Friday afternoon.

Centennial feted

PORT TOWNSEND — Tickets for Planned Parenthood’s centennial anniversary celebration and fundraiser will be available Thursday.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.plannedparenthoodbirthday.com.

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St.

Featured at the celebration will be speakers, birthday cake, music and dancing, as well as a glass of Finnriver artisan cider for attendees 21 and

older.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Parenthood’s preventive care, education and family planning for women and families.

Geneva dean’s list

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Former Port Angeles student Allison Elam, a writing major, was named to Geneva College’s 2017 spring dean’s list.

To qualify for the list, a student must earn at least a 3.6 grade-point average while passing a minimum of 12 credit hours.
