NEWS BRIEFS: Port of Port Angeles to consider budget Tuesday … and other items

PORT ANGELES — Port of Port Angeles commissioners will consider approving a 2018 budget as well as a 1 percent increase in its property tax levy when they meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners will meet at port headquarters, 338 W. First St.

Commissioners also will conduct a public hearing on modifying the Port’s Comprehensive Scheme of Harbor Improvements to allow it to declare property east of Carlsborg Road as surplus.

The port owns about 0.36 acres of Carlsborg Railroad Right of Way property approximately 420 linear feet north of the intersection of Carlsborg Road and Business Park Loop. It has never occupied the land.

The adjacent landowner, who has use the property for many years for parking and access, has asked the port to declare the land surplus and transfer title to him via a quick claim deed at no cost to the port. To do so, the port must modify the harbor improvements document.

Commissioners will consider the Rite Bros. aviation lease and change order for improvements of the multi-tenant industrial building facility.
