LETTER: Not much common sense in Initiative 1639

n Peninsula Voices, June 7, under the heading “Supports initiative” the author states that none of the common-sense firearm regulations proposed that he has seen prohibits a law-abiding citizen from exercising the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

“Common-sense” appears to be the well-used mantra of the uninformed, unfamiliar gun control advocates trying to infer that it’s the fault of lawful gun owners that psychopaths go on murder sprees.

The author mentions the argument that guns don’t kill people, people kill people “is half wrong. The reality is guns kill people …”

Did he ever stop to think it takes a finger on the trigger?

The gun doesn’t kill by itself.

In the words of the author, “there is a petition circulating to put Initiative 1639 for some common-sense firearms restrictions on the ballot for November.”

Proponents of this “common-sense” initiative are backed by wealthy, gun-hating “philanthropists” trying to slowly erode the rights of law-abiding citizens in this state.

There are main points in this initiative that space constraints won’t allow to list but suffice it to say that none of them will do anything to deter crime or stop all these senseless murders.

I would also like to add my thanks to the students in Sequim and across the country for turning out to support the Second Amendment.

It’s great to see students standing up for their beliefs and for freedom.
