New Year’s Eve parties and bingo on Peninsula

New Year’s Eve parties and bingo are among the upcoming activities on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Veterans memorial

PORT ANGELES — A Veterans Memorial service is planned at 1 p.m. today.

The service is held on the last Friday of each month at Veterans Memorial Park, 217 S. Lincoln St.

During the ceremony, the names of local veterans are read aloud and the bell is rung after each name, a rifle salute is fired and a bugler plays taps.

The ceremony is preceded by a bagpiper who also closes the ceremony by playing “Amazing Grace.”

Open house

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Land Trust will host an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m today.

The public is invited to stop in for cookies, hot apple cider and conversation at the land trust’s offices at 602 E. Front St.

Feiro party

PORT ANGELES — The Feiro Marine Life Center plans a New Year’s Eve party from 10 a.m. to noon Monday.

The party will be at the center on City Pier at 315 N. Lincoln St.

Admission is $10 for children from 5 to 10 years of age and $5 for Feiro members.

Each child registration includes up to two adults.

Elks party

PORT ANGELES — The Naval Elks will host a New Year’s Eve party from 8 p.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday.

The party will be in the Elks Ballroom, 131 E. First St.

The evening will feature music by The Works, hors d’oeurvres, and a champagne toast at midnight.

Tickets are $35 per person and the public is invited to attend.

Senior dance

PORT ANGELES — Cat’s Meow will perform for the Senior Swingers Dance from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The dance will be at the Port Angeles Senior and Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

There is a $5 cover charge; first-time visitors are admitted free.

Paws to read

PORT ANGELES — Members of the public are invited to read with service dogs from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Olympic Gentle Paws Therapy dogs and their trainers are available at the Port Angeles library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

According to a news release, “Reading to a dog or other pet creates a supportive and fun environment in which readers of all ages and abilities can practice their skills with confidence and joy.”

Marathon Bingo

FORKS — Elks Physical Therapy for Children will host Marathon Bingo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The bingo will be at the Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchant Road.

Every age is welcome.

Bingo Night

FORKS — The West End Sportsmen’s Club will host Bingo Night at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The event will be at the club, 243 Sportsmen’s Club Road.

Proceeds are used to fund Hunter Education courses and the annual Kids Fishing Day.

SEQUIM

Elks bingo

SEQUIM — Sequim Elks will host bingo games from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and Thursday.

Games will be at the Sequim Elks lodge, 143 Port Williams Road.

Admission is free with a minimum buy-in of $10.

Players must be 18 years or older.

Proceeds will go to Elks scholarship programs, other charities and lodge operating expenses.

New Year’s dance

SEQUIM — The Sequim Elks will host a New Year’s Eve dinner and dance from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The gala will be at the lodge at 143 Port Williams Road.

Dinner and dancing is $40 per person or $75 per couple, admission for dancing only is $15.

Dinner, served from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m, will feature New York cut steak or chicken cordon bleu.

Music for dancing will be be provided by Tony Petrillo and the Roundabouts starting at 7 p.m.
