Most lights back on in Jefferson County following major storm-related outages

PORT HADLOCK — Only three customers remained without power as of Monday afternoon following last week’s storms, although some service anomalies may continue, according to the Jefferson County Public Utility District.
PUD Resource Manager Bill Graham said Monday that two customers on Olympus Boulevard in Port Ludlow were not connected due to tree removal work, and one Quilcene customer had an underground fault, though it was unclear whether that condition is storm related.
On Monday morning, there was some flickering of lights along Hastings Avenue in Port Townsend, but that issue was resolved, Graham said.
East Jefferson County was the hardest hit area on the North Olympic Peninsula last week when three storms struck in succession.
About 70 percent of the PUD’s 18,500 electrical customers were affected by outages, with 50 percent being out of power for an hour or more.
Marrowstone Island and the Coyle Peninsula weathered the most damage with 500 customers still out of power Sunday morning, three days after the last storm.
Crews restored power to all but 12 customers by Sunday afternoon, the PUD said.
“We are in cleanup mode right now,” Graham said.
“And we are getting a lot of positive feedback from our customers who tell us that we performed well during the outages.”
