SPORTS BRIEFS: Klahhane Gymnastics state-bound

Klahhane Gymnastics state-bound

KENT — The Klahhane Gymnastics Xcel teams concluded their regular season at the Bunny Hop Invitational in Kent on Saturday and Sunday.

Gymnasts in the Diamond and Platinum divisions competed Saturday with Cassii Middlestead finishing second in the all-around in Diamond Senior Age Group (35.75) and Anne Edwards finishing second in the Platinum Junior Age Group (35.875).

Emma Sharp was second on the floor exercise (9.4) in the Diamond Senior Age Group with Susannah Sharp taking third in the Platinum Junior uneven bars (9.0). Lainy Vig was third in the Platinum Junior balance beam (8.8).

Competing on Sunday in the Silver Division, MeiYing Harper-Smith brought back a third-place medal in the Senior C all-around (37.05) with Kayli Sexton also taking 3rd in the Senior A age group. (35.65) Harper-Smith had scores above 9.0 on three of the four events with the highest score of 9.65 on balance beam while Sexton had identical scores of 9.25 on the vault and floor exercise. Danica Pierson scored 34.95 AA and 9.0 on balance beam in the Senior C age group.

In the Bronze Division, Rylee Evans was above a 9.0 in all events for a 36.8 all-around in the Senior Age group. Jessamyn Schindler surpassed the 9.0 mark on three of four events for a 36.1 AA grood for third in the Senior B age group. Sadie Miller scored a 9.4 on uneven bars and finished with 35.6 all-around.

All of the girls have qualified to the Xcel State Championships on March 23-25, hosted by Vancouver Elite Gymnastics at the Clark County Events Center in Ridgefield.

Anytime Fitness champs

PORT ANGELES — Anytime Fitness of Sequim beat 7 Cedars Casino in the Port Angeles City Basketball league Gold Division championship 88-79.

Anytime Fitness won two out of the three games in the championship series.

Leader scorers were Jayson Brockelsby with 30 points for Anytime Fitness and Chad Copeland with 23 points. Kasey Ulin led 7 Cedars with 26 points, while Jordan Justus scored 16.

Anytime Fitness of Sequim won the Gold Division championship of the Port Angeles City Basketball League, beating 7 Cedars Casino 88-79 to win two out of three games in the championship series.
