PREP SWIMMING: Roughriders fare well against defending state champs

SEQUIM — Port Angeles competed well while facing Olympic, the defending boys swimming state champions, falling 91-76 to the Trojans at the Sequim YMCA on Thursday.

“Highlights were the boys [taking] first in the 200[-yard] free relay with a time of one minute, 40.76 seconds,” Roughriders coach Pet VanRossen said.

Team members are Taylor Martin, Josh Krzysiak, Alex Che and Josh Gavin.

“Josh Gavin had finished first in the 500 free with a time of 5:23.80 before anchoring the 200 free relay,” VanRossen said.

“In almost every event the PA boys finished second and third. Almost every one of the PA boys had at least one best time of the season.”

The Riders (2-2) host Kingston at the Sequim YMCA on Thursday.
