BELFAIR — Reigning Olympic League MVP Zoe Smithson went 5 for 5 at bat and hit for the cycle, including slugging two solo home runs, as the Roughriders power bats produced five total home runs.

“PA bats exploded with five home runs and a total of 11 extra-base hits out of 15 hits,” coach Randy Steinman said.

Peyton Rudd also launched two over the fence and doubled, while Lily Halberg knocked another home run out of the park and doubled and stole two bases.

“Teagan [Clark] and Cheyenne [Zimmer] pitched really well against a good North Mason team,” Steinman said.

Boys Golf Sequim 147, North Mason 230

SEQUIM — Three Wolves shot par or better as Sequim blistered the Bulldogs with a season-best total of 147 strokes at The Cedars at Dungeness.

“Led by match medalist Ben Sweet’s scintillating 3-under par 33, the boys started strong, got stronger as the round went on, and then finished with a flurry,” coach Sean O’Mera said.

Sweet opened with a birdie and swung the club beautifully all day, according to O’Mera.

“Ben putted brilliantly, including making a 30-foot breaking putt from off the green on hole 8, and an 8-foot birdie putt to cap off his round on hole No. 9,” O’Mera said.

Dominic Riccobene carded four birdies on his way to a 2-under 34.

“While four birdies in nine holes is impressive any time for any golfer including the pros, the most impressive moment of Dom’s round came at the fourth hole. After a silly mistake, Dom buckled down, hit his wedge to 5 feet, and calmly rolled in a putt for par. Many players would have wilted under those circumstances. Dom chose to recover and play.”

Pryce Glasser also shot even-par 36 for Sequim with an impressive wedge shot to finish up.

“Coach [Greg] Glasser (Pryce’s dad) had worked with the boys on dialing in wedge shot distances. Wouldn’t you know that faced with 90 yards –the exact distance he worked on all week in practice –Pryce hit a sand wedge that bounced four feet in front of the flag, hopped to within inches, then ripped back with spin. It was an impressive shot in front of quite the gallery of players and coaches already done with their rounds.”

Zack Thompson shot his first round in the 40s with a 44 to round out Sequim’s scorers.

The Wolves (4-0) host Kingston on Thursday.

Port Angeles 190, Bainbridge 198

BAINBRIDGE — Three Roughriders shot rounds in the 40s to triumph over the Spartans at par-36 Wing Point Golf Course on Thursday.

Edun Bailey was match medalist with a low round of 46 while teammates Nate Anderson and Austin Worthington each carded rounds of 47.

Phoenix Flores’ 50 also counted toward the Port Angeles score.

The Riders (4-0) host North Kitsap on Thursday.
