ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dom Sprague, Crescent football

Crescent senior Dom Sprague left it all on the field in his final game for the Loggers football team.

Sprague has had some good games this year for the Loggers with three 100-yard games, but nothing that can compare to his Friday night gain against North Beach. He rushed 31 times for a staggering 312 yards. He scored three touchdowns on offense in Crescent’s 48-14 victory. The win gave the Loggers a .500 season, quite the feat playing in an incredibly tough Northwest 1B League.

Sprague’s defensive stats were just as impressive. He had 25 tackles, 10 of them solo. He also had a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery as he simply dominated the game on both sides of the ball.

Though it was his final football game for the Loggers, Sprague’s athletic career for Crescent is ongoing as he plays basketball and is a standout track and field sprinter with a good shot of returning to the state 1B track and field meet.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
