McMINNVILLE, Ore. — Linfield sophomore Eve Burke was tabbed Northwest Conference Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week last week. Burke, a Port Angeles High School graduate, combined for 32 points and 16 rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the field in two Linfield road victories over Corban and Northwest last month.

She tallied 15 points and nine rebounds in the Wildcats’ 73-66 overtime win over Corban on Dec. 16 and followed that with a game-high 17 points while adding seven rebounds in Linfield’s 64-60 win over Northwest on Dec. 30.

Burke has scored 13 points or more in each of the last six games and ranks among the NWC leaders in points per game at 10.

Burke had an outstanding career for the Roughriders. She lettered in basketball, soccer, golf and track & field, she was a first-team All-League player as a sophomore, junior and senior. She was selected for the Washington 2A All-State All-Star Game in 2021-22 and was named the All-Peninsula girls basketball MVP in 2022.

Despite being undersized at 5-foot-7, she did much of her damage inside the paint. Her senior year, she averaged 20 points and nine rebounds and 4.5 steals a game. She also helped the Riders win three straight district championships and scored 1,215 points for the Riders.
