LETTER: Elegant column

Elegant column

Although I am pro-choice, I wholeheartedly applaud the recent elegant column on abortion by Mona Charen (PDN, Sept. 1), which should be required reading for every anti-abortionist.

If more anti-abortion organizations became truly pro-life by adopting the compassionate carrot, assistance to help women who need support to have their babies, as opposed to the punitive stick, fines or even jail for women seeking abortions and those who help them, the result would be not only more tiny lives saved but happier lives for both the babies and the families of the babies.

Those babies would no longer be considered an unthinkable burden by a desperate woman or family but would be welcomed and loved.

Please tell me there are local pro-life groups adopting this approach.
