What North Olympic Peninsula people are saying on possibility of war in Iraq

“God bless our troops.”‘

North Olympic Peninsula residents appear to be solidly behind U.S. troops serving in the Persian Gulf region.

There’s a far greater diversity of opinion of President Bush, whose 48-hour ultimatum to Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to exile himself expires at 5 p.m. local time today.

The PDN opened up a comment line via telephone and e-mail Tuesday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The instant forum midway through Bush’s 48-hour period is the basis for this article on comments from your North Olympic Peninsula neighbors.

Slightly more than 100 comments were received, and more than 60 of them were critical of President Bush or U.S. foreign policy in general.

None of the respondents indicated disrespect to the armed forces personnel deployed to the Persian Gulf region.

The comments appear in the Wednesday edition of the PDN.
