West End: Makah vote on tribal council representative

Makah tribal members in Neah Bay take to the polls today to elect one person to an open seat on the Makah Tribal Council.

Candidates Marcelina Parker and Micah McCarty will appear on the general election ballot. Ed Claplanhoo, Blanchard Matte and Alan Claplanhoo are running as write-in “sticker”‘ candidates.

Eligible tribal members can vote at the Makah Marina from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The results will be announced during a 7 p.m. general council meeting.

The winner will be sworn into the five-member tribal council on Jan. 2 to serve a three-year term.
