PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation invites the public to a shindig this evening celebrating International Surfing Day, which falls on a Monday this year.
The party will be from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Harbinger Winery, 2358 U.S. Highway 101.
Tickets to the family-oriented event are $20 for those 13 and older and $10 for Peninsula College students with an associated student body ID card.
Children 12 and younger get in free.
Tickets include a raffle ticket and complimentary glass of wine or beer for those 21 and older.
Live music
Tonight’s celebration will feature live music by country musician Buck Ellard of Sequim, an art display by Todd Fisher of Port Angeles, a raffle, a silent auction and food and beverages catered by H2O Waterfront Bistro and Next Door Gastropub of Port Angeles.
Event proceeds benefit Surfrider activities on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Founded in 2005, International Surfing Day is an international celebration of the sport of surfing, while at the same time working to raise awareness and support for beach and coastal environments worldwide, organizers said.
Surfrider Foundation
Surfrider Foundation USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of oceans and beaches.
It focuses on water quality, beach access, beach and surf spot preservation, and sustaining marine and coastal ecosystems.
The nonprofit is headquartered in San Clemente, Calif.
Now in its 12th year, International Surfing Day has more than 200 Surfrider Foundation-led events worldwide in America, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Argentina and Japan.
