Unemployment dipped slightly on the North Olympic Peninsula last month.
The jobless rate in May was 9.6 percent in Clallam County and 8.9 percent in Jefferson County, according to preliminary numbers released by the state Employment Security Department on Tuesday.
In April, Clallam County had a revised unemployment rate of 9.7 percent. Jefferson County’s was 9.1 percent.
The state jobless rate fell from 9.3 percent to 9.1 percent last month.
National unemployment fell from 9.9 to 9.7 percent in May.
San Juan County had the lowest unemployment rate among Washington’s 39 counties last month at 6 percent.
