CHIMACUM — Two people were taken to hospitals following a rear-end collision on state Highway 19 at Egg and I Road.
Jennifer Pope, 45, of Port Hadlock was driving a 2022 Toyota Tacoma northbound on Highway 19 at milepost 4 about 10:42 a.m. Thursday when she slowed to make a left turn and was struck from behind by another vehicle, the State Patrol said.
Barbara Brueckner, 73, of Port Hadlock was driving a 2019 Kia Sorento when she failed to yield and collided with Pope’s Toyota Tacoma, the State Patrol said.
Pope was transported to Jefferson Healthcare Hospital, according to the State Patrol.
Brueckner was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, the State Patrol said.
Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound ditch on Highway 19 and were towed from the scene, the State Patrol said.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected, the State Patrol said.
Both vehicles were totally destroyed.
