DIAMOND POINT — Two people were hurt in a two-car crash on U.S. Highway 101 near Chicken Coop Road at about 1:05 p.m. Saturday.
Dale Alan Burke, 79, of Sequim, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Outback, and Laura Michelle Taylor, 21, of Escondido, Calif., who was a passenger in the car, were taken to Olympic Medical Center, the State Patrol said.
The OMC nursing supervisor said the two were being evaluated at 4 p.m. and probably would be treated and discharged.
Blake William Kirkland, 33, the driver of a 1975 Ford conversion van, and his passenger, Robin C. Lansdowne, 43, were not hurt. Both are from Victoria.
The State Patrol gave this account of the wreck:
Burke was attempting to cross Highway 101 from Chicken Coop Road to Diamond Point Road east of Blyn.
He failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and pulled out in front of the van driven by Kirkland.
Kirkland tried to slow and steer to the left but collided with Burke’s car in the turn lane northbound on Highway 101.
Charges of failure to yield are pending against Burke, the State Patrol said.
All were wearing their seat belts, and neither drugs nor alcohol was involved, the State Patrol said.
Both vehicles were destroyed, the State Patrol said.
