Spring cleaning set for Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — Volunteers are invited to join a work party to do a Spring Cleanup of Port Townsend from 9 a.m. to noon on Earth Day, next Saturday.

Volunteers will weed, sweep sidewalks, wash windows, paint and spiff up parks and storefronts in the event sponsored by the Port Townsend Main Street Program.

RSVP in advance to the Main Street office at 360-385-7911 or email admin@ptmainstreet.org to volunteer and get more information. Volunteers will need to bring hand tools and gloves, and wear work clothes.

Merchants in the historic districts also are asked to give special attention to their storefronts, pick up sidewalk litter and spruce up planters and/or order flower baskets for their businesses.

Contact the Port Townsend Main Street Program to order flower baskets and/or sign up for the flower basket maintenance program. Baskets are up mid-May through September.

Additional Port Townsend Main Street beautification and maintenance projects include year-round maintenance of Adams Street Park, rain garden maintenance, Tyler Street Plaza plantings, Tyler Street portolettes, maintaining the hanging flower baskets, and streetscape design-related projects.

The Port Townsend Main Street Program maintains the green tables and chairs throughout downtown. Merchants can partner with the program by purchasing additional streetscape furniture.
