PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County elections office will conduct a special three-day filing period from 8 a.m. today through 5 p.m. Friday.
Jefferson County, which had three candidates withdraw, will conduct a special filing period at the end of the month.
Candidates for Clallam County may file online around the clock at www.clallamcountywa.gov/elections or from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in person at the Elections and Voter Registration Office in room 042 on the lower level of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Candidates may only file for the four offices that were void of candidates at the close of the regular filing period last Friday.
The open offices include:
• Fire District No. 1, Commissioner Position 3. The district includes Forks, Beaver and Sappho and a small portion of Jefferson County.
• Fire District No. 4, Commissioner Position 3. The district includes Joyce and an area on either side of state Highway 112.
• Clallam County Park and Recreation District No. 1, Commissioner Position 1. The district, which operates the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center at 610 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, has boundaries similar to the Sequim School District.
• Black Diamond Water District, Commissioner Position 1 – Unexpired Term. The district extends east from Black Diamond road south of the Port Angeles city limits.
Candidates filing for any of these positions will only appear on the general election ballots, regardless of how many candidates file.
The candidate who receives the most votes in the general election will be declared the winner.
If no candidate files for an office during the special filing period, it will deemed lapsed and will not appear on the general election ballot; no further filing period will be opened.
