Sheriff’s deputies search for man near Deer Park Road

Person fled vehicle collision

PORT ANGELES — Law enforcement was seeking a man who fled from a vehicle collision on Deer Park Road, leaving behind two children and allegedly disposing of a firearm on Friday.

Chief Criminal Deputy Amy Bundy of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said at about 2:30 p.m. Friday that the man — described as wearing a blue, long- sleeved sweatshirt with his hair in a ponytail — had fled from a collision on the 300 block of Deer Park Road, leaving behind two small children.

Bundy said law enforcement was on site and had acquired the name of the children’s mother.

A witness reported seeing the man dispose of a firearm into a trashcan, Bundy said, and the firearm has since been recovered.

This is an ongoing story and will be updated when additional information becomes available.
