SEQUIM — City planning commissioners heard from a small audience Tuesday night on how large-scale retail developments coming to Sequim ought to look.
About 20 people showed up to the informal community center meeting for a glimpse at the most recent design standards intended to guide and streamline the process of allowing “big box” retailers to set up shop in Sequim.
The turnout was sharp contrast to the nearly 300 who attended a hearing on a proposed Wal-Mart “superstore” at Guy Cole Convention Center at Carrie Blake Park last month.
Chairman Troye Jarmuth led Tuesday night’s meeting by explaining that design standards and guidelines — modeled after regulations adopted in Fort Collins, Colo. — are a work in progress.
