Sequim Mayor Walt Schubert was in Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center on Sunday night with facial injuries he suffered when his motorcycle left state Highway 112 west of Port Angeles earlier in the day.
The State Patrol said Schubert’s 2004 Harley-Davidson failed to take a left turn at milepost 33.5, left the highway, and hit a stump on the right shoulder.
The hospital said Schubert, 64, was in the emergency room as of 7 p.m. but was to be taken to an acute-care surgical floor. A hospital spokesperson said his condition was “satisfactory” but would not say if Schubert faced surgery.
