PORT ANGELES — A local man led Clallam County sheriff’s deputies on a 15-minute, high-speed chase from Port Angeles to Sequim that ended at the man’s front door on Thursday.
After almost getting into numerous accidents and dodging a device designed to tear open his car’s tires, Elvis Larue Cade, 48, made it back to his home on Windsor Court before being arrested for attempting to elude a police officer, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
The pursuit reached speeds of 80 mph starting from U.S. Highway 101 at the Morse Creek “S” curve at about 7:45 p.m., according to court documents.
During the chase, Cade darted in between cars and into oncoming traffic lanes, and almost hit a motorcyclist and a bicyclist, the documents say.
Cade refused to allow officers to take a sample of his breath to determine his blood alcohol content.
Cade made a court appearance Friday, but was not charged.
Clallam County Superior Court Judge George Wood set Cade’s bail at $15,000.
