SEQUIM — Fans of free reading here are considering forming a taxing district to fund a larger library.
They have five ideas for places to put it.
The former Costco warehouse on Hooker Road; properties on Hendrickson Road and on Fifth Avenue; a spot on Bell Creek; and the current site at 630 N. Sequim Ave. are all possibilities, according to the Sequim Branch Advisory Committee’s Oct. 4 meeting minutes.
Suzi Schmidt, president of Friends of the Sequim Library, is leading an effort to give the Sequim area more public library space.
She believes the existing branch, built nearly 25 years ago, is pitifully small in light of Sequim’s booming population.
Friends raises money for the Sequim Library with its used-book sales.
