Road work to close portions of Race, Eighth in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Work on the Race Street improvement project will necessitate the closure of portions of Race and Eighth streets from 5 p.m. today through noon Friday.

Race Street will be closed between Fifth and Ninth streets; Eighth Street will be closed between Francis and Chambers streets.

Local access will be preserved; a marked detour route will be in place for through traffic.

The $4.9 million project will install a shared-use trail for non-motorists, enhancements for pedestrian safety, water main replacement and the addition of stormwater infrastructure.
