PORT TOWNSEND — The Frank “Skip” Smith murder case could end up the state appeals court before going to trial if the scheduled presiding judge doesn’t step aside.
Public defender Richard L. Davies, who represents Ryan Neil Sorensen, threatened Tuesday to file the appeal with the state court if Jefferson County Superior Court Judge Thomas J. Majhan refuses to call in a visiting judge for the case.
Sorensen, 30, of Utah has been charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree kidnapping and two counts second-degree assault in the shooting death of Smith, a Port Hadlock towing business operator.
