PORT TOWNSEND –Funding problems could force the end of the popular Port Townsend Film Festival, organizers said.
Backers expect to know within the next few weeks whether the annual event will fold this year, says festival director Peter Simpson.
“There is that potential,” said Peter Simpson. “We’ve had three straight years of losses.”
Simpson has been soliciting sponsors for the event and said he is impressed with the support he has already received from potential sponsors.
Although Simpson said it was difficult to determine how much sponsors could contribute, he estimates the amount at about $35,000.
Simpson said he can’t say how much money would ensure the festival’s survival.
