Port of Port Townsend board to hear from Port Angeles ferry operator

PORT TOWNSEND — Victoria Express president Jack Harmon on Wednesday will discuss with Port of Port Townsend commissioners the Port Angeles passenger ferry service’s possible future operations out of Port Townsend.

The idea expressed in a recent letter to Port officials goes before the Port commissioners during their 9:30 a.m. public workshop at Point Hudson Marina Room.

Also on the agenda:

* Barry Shandre will discuss a new fixed-base operation proposed at Jefferson County International Airport.

* Geoff Briggs will discuss a proposal for the vacant motel building at Point Hudson. Port staff is evaluating the proposal.

* Tamer Kirac, Jefferson County Economic Development Council executive director, will speak about the EDC’s request of $25,000 from the Port for industrial land bank planning.

The Port commissioners’ 1 p.m. Wednesday action meeting at the same location will include airport hangar development, the Hood Canal Bridge three-day closure, local toxics control account, the 2005 Rhododendron Parade entry and an operations report.
