PORT TOWNSEND — As an overflow crowd of some 300 people watched and commented, Port of Port Townsend commissioners, in a 2-1 vote, approved Tuesday a Sept. 13 start date for the replacement of the Point Hudson south jetty.
Concerns had been raised about the work interfering with the Wooden Boat Festival set for Sept. 7-9.
Commissioner Steve Tucker cast the dissenting vote, saying that he preferred a summer start date, which others at the meeting at the Port Townsend Yacht Club said could result in a cancellation of the festival.
