PORT ANGELES — Business and commercial landowners on the well-trafficked U.S. Highway 101 business corridor east of Port Angeles are showing early support for hooking up to a sewer line they say will allow for easier economic growth.
County, city and utility district officials have said a sewage line can be installed along the business strip east of Port Angeles without annexation into the city, a contentious topic among area residents in 2001 before the idea was put on hold.
“The consensus seems to be pretty positive that (businesses) would like to have sewer access,” Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Russ Veenema said Thursday of the 10 business and economic development volunteers conducting the survey.
