Port Angeles: Service club raises $38,659 in radiothon

Port Angeles Lions Club members took over radio KONP 1450 Thursday for an all-day “Food-a-Thon”‘ to solicit donations of money and food to assist the Port Angeles Food Bank through the holiday season.

The event got checks, cash and pledges totaling $38,659 — the most ever raised and about $4,000 more than last year.

MV Coho ferry management and employees were the biggest donors, contributing more than $9,200.

The annual radiothon — from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. — has taken place for more than 20 years.
