Under the umbrella of new election rules that included eliminating geographic boundaries, the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe re-elected Dennis R. “Sully” Sullivan to serve as tribal chairman.
Sullivan, 63, has served as chairman for three years, and will lead the five-member Lower Elwha Klallam Tribal Business Committee for another one-year term.
The committee is the tribe’s governing body and makes decisions on the tribal budget, land use policies and other issues.
“I am really overwhelmed and pleased to be re-elected again,” Sullivan said Thursday.
Sullivan and other members of the business committee, which includes Phillip L. Charles Jr., Frances G. Charles, Rosi Francis and Verna E. Henderson, were eligible to become tribal chair.
