PORT ANGELES — There’s no decision yet as to who will fill the shoes of former Port Angeles City Councilwoman Lauren Erickson.
After three-hours of interviews and an hour of deliberation on Monday, Mayor Karen Rogers and the City Council decided to hold-off on naming a successor.
The council has until Aug. 29 to make its decision.
Erickson resigned from her elected post on May 31 to undergo eight weeks of radiation treatment for breast cancer.
Erickson has a 90 percent prognosis for a full recovery, but decided to step down because the city is starting its strategic planning process, she told the Peninsula Daily News in May.
All seven candidates vying for her spot had a half-hour each to shine on Monday during one-on-one interviews.
Each candidate was asked 10 questions.
All were asked to identify their two highest-priority city projects and the city’s three most critical projects.
