PORT ANGELES — The partner of the B-17G Flying Fortress on the Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom tour is missing in action from its stop here.
The B-24J Liberator is in Olympia while a new engine arrives to replace one that blew out Monday evening, said Ryan Keough, tour coordinator for the Collings Foundation of Stow, Mass.
The B-17G Flying Fortress and B-24J Liberator were scheduled to fly to Port Angeles on Monday from Olympia for three days of flights and tours at William R. Fairchild International Airport.
The Collings Foundation of Stow, Mass., is hosting its “Wings of Freedom” tour through Wednesday. The tour features the only fully restored and flying B-24 and one of only nine airworthy B-17s.
Port Angeles is one of the most popular stops on the “Wings of Freedom.”
