PORT ANGELES — Pink ribbons will go up around downtown Port Angeles on Saturday as the Soroptomist International Port Angeles Noon Club begins its annual Pink Up Port Angeles benefit.
All proceeds from Pink Up Port Angeles go to Operation Uplift, a nonprofit organization based in Port Angeles that supports cancer patients on the North Olympic Peninsula.
The 14th annual Pink Up Port Angeles will begin Saturday with the tying of pink ribbons around town, especially in the downtown area, a bake sale at Swain’s General Store at 602 E. First St., and a free breast health clinic for women without insurance or whose insurance does not cover mammograms.

On Wednesday, during the first Concerts on the Pier of the summer season, Soroptimists will “Pink Up the Pier” with a booth offering information about cancer prevention and treatment at City Pier beginning at 6 p.m.
Wednesday is also the deadline for teams to enter next Friday’s Pink Up Golf Tournament at the Peninsula Golf Club.
The tournament will begin with a noon shotgun start of the scramble for four-person teams Friday at the golf club at 824 S. Lindberg Road, said Lori Oakes, organizer of the tournament.
The cost is $100 per player or $65 per players who are members of the golf club.
Prizes will be awarded during a reception with appetizers from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Prizes will be given in both male and female categories for first and second place, longest drive and closest to the pin.
