As part of its action plan to increase safety on North Olympic Peninsula highways, the Washington State Patrol is boosting the presence of its Aggressive Driver Apprehension Team cars in Clallam and Jefferson counties.
The unmarked cars target motorists who may be speeding, following too closely, making dangerous lane changes and impeding other traffic on the roadway.
State Patrol District 8, which covers Clallam, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, Grays Harbor, Pacific and Wahkiakum counties, has three aggressive driving cars.
One is assigned to the Port Angeles detachment and two more are in Kitsap County.
Starting this week, the Kitsap County cars will join in on random aggressive driving patrols in Clallam and Jefferson counties.
“We’re going to really emphasize that area,” Trooper Glen Tyrrell, District 8 spokesman, said.
