The North Olympic Peninsula grew by 1.6 percent between July 2003 and July 2004, according to U.S. Census Bureau county population estimates released today.
Both Clallam and Jefferson counties posted an identical 1.6 percent growth figure, with Clallam County listed at a population of 67,867 and Jefferson at 28,110.
Franklin, Island and Clark counties were the fastest-growing in the state, according to the estimates. The population of Franklin County, in southeast Washington, grew 5.6 percent. Island County grew by 3.5 percent, and Clark County by 3.3 percent.
The state’s population as of July 2004 was 6,203,788, up 1.2 percent from July 2003.
Flagler County, on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, was the fastest-growing county with a 10.1 percent population increase, according to Census estimates.
