PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Quilts of Valor will hold its seventh National Sew Day quilting party from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.
The annual event is held at the American Legion’s Marvin G. Shields Post No. 26, 209 Monroe St.
The public is invited to come help sew. No prior quilting experience is necessary.
Quilts of Valor will provide fabric, quilt kits, cutting mats, cutters, irons and ironing boards.
Attendees should bring a sewing machine, if possible.
Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, and registered attendees will be eligible to win a Janome 3160QOV sewing machine.
Quilts of Valor is a volunteer organization that sews quilts to present to veterans of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, as well as to current service members.
The organization has public ceremonies on Veterans Day and Memorial Day but participates in private ceremonies as well.
