National Alliance on Mental Illness Affiliate meets today in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — The National Alliance on Mental Illness Affiliate will meet today.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in the lower level of Olympic Medical Center, 939 Caroline St.

All those interested are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Board members will report on their recent trip to the NAMI State Conference held in Ellensburg, where they attended workshops on mental health.

The keynote speaker at the conference banquet was Andi Smith, senior policy adviser for Gov. Jay Inslee.

Also today, NAMI Clallam County will sponsor its “Family to Family” annual educational program at 5:30 p.m. at the Sequim Valley Foursquare Church at 9090 Old Olympic Highway.

The free 12-week course is for family members and close friends of adults with mental illness.

Curriculum for this class was written by an experienced family member/mental health professional.
