Mariners’ regatta sets sail June 2-4 in Port Townsend

PORT TOWNSEND — The 34th annual Classic Mariners’ Regatta boat race event will be held June 2-4 at the Northwest Maritime Center, 431 Water St.

Those interested in participating in the races can register their classic sailboat for $60 at www.nwmaritime.org.

Registration includes entry to all three races, admittance to the welcome gathering, captain’s meeting, an awards ceremony and five beverage tickets.

At 5 p.m. June 2, the event will begin with a welcome party and rowing race for dinghies, shells and kayaks. Beverages will be served.

On June 3 at 9:30 a.m., a mandatory skipper’s meeting will be held where coffee and light snacks will be available.

Following the meeting, the first Classic Mariners’ Regatta race will begin at noon, with the second immediately following.

At 5 p.m., a dinner featuring chicken marbella with polenta and salad will available at the center’s meeting room.

Tickets for the dinner are $17 and need to be purchased by Monday, May 29.

On June 4 at noon, the final regatta race will commence, followed by the regatta’s award ceremony at 5 p.m. in the center’s commons.

This event is presented by the Wooden Boat Foundation and Port Townsend Sailing Association.
