PORT ANGELES – A Port Angeles man who police say pointed a BB gun at another during an alleged road rage incident was charged Wednesday with unlawful display of a weapon.
Frank C. Eckhardt, 63, is suspected of pointing the semiautomatic pistol replica at a man at the Reino gas station on the 1200 block of East First Street at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.
It was a confrontation following a perceived slight, according to Port Angeles Police Cpl. Jack Lowell
“When he stopped at the store, the suspect drove up, blocked the motorist’s departure, pointed a handgun at him and threatened to shoot him,” a statement from the Port Angeles Police Department said.
There was no exchange between the two motorists prior to Eckhardt pointing the air pistol.
“That’s kind of strange,” Lowell said.
“There wasn’t a whole lot leading up to it.”
