PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson General Hospital administrators expect today to learn the fate of a hospice program the hospital has operated for 18 years.
The state Department of Health is expected to decide whether it will provide Medicare certification to Jefferson General Home Health and Hospice or to Assured Home Health and Hospice, a for-profit company planning to move into Clallam and Jefferson counties.
The applications are being reviewed independently rather than in competition with one another, so it’s possible Health officials could pick Jefferson General Hospice, Assured, both programs, or neither for certification.
