Port Ludlow and Chimacum fire district officials hope for approval in today’s primary election of their request for a permanent emergency medical services levy.
The levy would continue the existing property tax of 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation in each fire district.
A homeowner with a house and lot valued at $150,000 would pay $75 annually under the levy.
Voters in Fire District No. 5 (Gardiner area) also decide in today’s mail-only primary which two candidates in the Position 1 race — Randy Okerman, Richard Vaughan and Barb Knoepfle — will continue on to the Nov. 6 general election.
Enough mail-in ballots may have already been returned to validate the elections, Jefferson County Elections Coordinator Karen Cartmel said Monday.
