Irondale: Road construction to begin

IRONDALE — Irondale Road reconstruction is scheduled to begin Tuesday, bringing delays and one-way traffic between state Route 19 and Port Hadlock.

A complete closure at Chimacum Creek is scheduled for June 17 through July 12 to construct a 350-foot welded-wire retaining wall on the north side of the stream.

State Route 116 — Ness’s Corner Road — will be used as a detour.

Construction is scheduled to last through the summer on the $965,000 project, which will add 6-foot-wide paved shoulders on either side of a 0.79-mile stretch of Irondale Road starting at Highway 19 and extending to Fourth Avenue, officials said. A left-turn lane from Irondale Road to Highway 19 will also be added.
