Lower Elwha tribe hosting annual job fair
PORT ANGELES — The Lower Elwha Klallam tribe will host its third annual Job Fair at the Elwha Klallam Heritage Training Center, 401 E. First St. , from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 24).
The job fair is free and open to the public.
Those looking for employment are advised to come with resumes and be prepared to speak with employers.
Employers confirmed for the fair are Prairie Springs Assisted Living, The Hair School, Red Lion Hotel, 7 Cedars Resort, Elwha River Casino, the state Department of Social and Health Services and the state Department of Corrections.

‘Solopreneur’ talk set at PA college
PORT ANGELES — Angelo Spandrio of AMS Audio Enterprises Inc. and the Solopreneur Hotline will speak to the Peninsula College Business Club today (Wednesday, April 24).
The talk will be held at 12:35 p.m. in Room M-233 on the Peninsula College campus, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
It is free and open to the public.
Spandrio will present “Building a Successful Business” based on his 35-plus years of experience as an entrepreneur who created a profitable home-based business from scratch.
“I learned everything the hard way when it came to running the day-to-day operations of the business,” Spandrio said.
“I made many mistakes, and although these mistakes cost me time and money, my business has become fairly successful. Being a ‘solopreneur’ has provided a comfortable life for me and my family. I have truly loved the freedom, independence and pride that the business has given me.”
Spandrio will reveal his journey through the start-up maze, touching on passion, structure, licenses and permits, employees vs. independent contractors, taxes, the business highway and much more.

PT Food Co-op hopefuls
PORT TOWNSEND — Eight candidates have stepped forward for four open positions on the Port Townsend Food Co-op’s board of directors.
These hopefuls will appear at the annual “Cake with the Candidates” forum, set for the Port Townsend Masonic Lodge, 1338 Jefferson St., at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, April 24).
Running for the open seats are Lisa Barclay, Jim Davis, Joyce Huesemann, David Wayne Johnson, Monica leRoux, Bob Podrat, Patricia Smith and William Vogt.

Refreshments will be served.
Election ballots will be mailed April 30, with the voting period is May 1-14.
Only one vote per member is allowed, and the member’s capital investment in the co-op must be paid up to current status by May 14.
The designated member for the membership must sign and enter his or her correct member number on the ballot secrecy envelope.
If voters do not know who the designated member is, they may call the co-op at 360-385-2883 or ask at the Member Services Desk in the store.
The ballot must be postmarked or delivered to the co-op by May 14.
Anyone can shop at the co-op at 414 Kearney St. regardless of membership.
