PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College student government will host a Volunteer Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
The free fair will be at the Pirate Union Building at the campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
The Associated Student Council will host representatives of more than 20 community organizations that need volunteers.
Members of the public and students are welcome at the fair.
The event was the idea of Peninsula College President Luke Robins and Associated Student Body President Jason Trammell, both of whom meet monthly to discuss student leadership.
The fair provides a way for “Peninsula College students and employees, as well as community members, to learn about volunteer opportunities in our community,” said Rick Ross, director of student programs.
“We live in a very special place, and part of what makes this college and this community so great is how engaged we all are in support of community needs,” he added.
“We have 8,000 students from all over the world here at Peninsula. What a great resource if we can get more of them connected to community organizations.”
Participating groups
Among the participating organizations are the American Red Cross’ Olympic Peninsula chapter, AmeriCorps/YMCA, The Answer For Youth, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, Serenity House of Clallam County and the Serenity House Dream Center, Family Planning of Clallam County, Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, Healthy Families of Clallam County.
Also Mosaic, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Olympic Community Action Programs, Olympic Medical Center Foundation, Peninsula Therapeutic, Port Angeles Community Center, Port Angeles Farmers Market, Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, Port Angeles Food Bank, Salvation Army, St. Andrew’s Place, United Way of Clallam County and Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics.
