FORKS — Inmate recovery teams conducted a manhunt Saturday in search of a prisoner who walked away from Olympic Corrections Center.
Jose Manuel Osegura Osegura, who was serving a sentence for kidnapping, was last seen by corrections staff around noon Friday in his work area at the minimum-security prison southeast of Forks, corrections center spokeswoman Sue Gibbs said.
After a formal count of all inmates, Osegura was confirmed missing at 5:35 p.m. Friday, Gibbs said.
On Saturday, staff and inmate recovery teams from Olympic and Clallam Bay corrections centers searched for Osegura in the area surrounding Olympic Corrections Center.
The prison is located about 20 miles from U.S. Highway 101 on Hoh Mainline Road in a heavily wooded area.
