A Mississippi man was found dead Thursday afternoon near where his SUV apparently missed a curve on Lake Aldwell Road and crashed over an embankment.
The wreck was spotted by two anglers walking the lake shore Thursday afternoon, though investigators estimate the man crashed sometime Wednesday night or early Thursday.
The man was identified Thursday night by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department as Russell L. Douglas, 43, of Waveland, Miss.
Although his family in Mississippi was notified of his death, deputies didn’t know whether Douglas was a visitor or was newly moved to the area, Deputy Dave Ellefson said.
The death is the 19th fatality on North Olympic Peninsula roads and highways since Jan. 1.
