PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Film Festival has announced the last of three clues to the identity of the 2014 special guest.
The Guess the Guest contest encourages participants to filter through obscure hints to claim a bragging-rights prize.
Each year, a film star is invited to be the special guest at the festival, set for Sept. 19-21 this year.
Past guests have included Tony Curtis, Eva Marie Saint, Cloris Leachman, Patricia Neal, Malcolm McDowell, Dyan Cannon, Karen Allen and Bruce Dern.
The first to identify the guest star correctly will win a film festival T-shirt and hat and a photo opportunity with the special guest.
Three clues are released, one each week in print and on the film festival website at www.ptfilmfest.com.
Festival Executive Director Janette Force said Tuesday that about 250 guesses had been received so far and that multiple guesses are allowed and encouraged.
The first clue was released June 4 and the second June 11.
The identity of the special guest and the winner of the contest will be announced June 25.
Third clue
One final clue to uncover:
Both are coming with their lover.
Many folks have his name right
But with whom does he spend the night?
In Williamstown, sweet love begun,
And now for forty years has run.
Producer, actress, collaborator —
What love, what passion could be greater?
Second clue
To howl the challenge, wild war hopes
Unnatural passion with sunshine gropes
Seven, eight, wild silver mother,
Sweet limbo sister, bear’s secret brother
The stars are two, the match is strange
Three toes, last-minute change
And now within these rhymes it’s you
With all these eggs, baby,
What is true?
First clue
A wordsmith, a storyteller,
Acting and directing as well,
Noveling with noble themes
Fierce challenges to social dreams.
Myth and magic can, too, prevail
In wondrous weaving of these tales.
Cross dabbling from film to rock
What springs to mind made fans gawk.
Guesses can be sent to guess@ptfilmfest.com or mailed or hand-delivered to the film festival office at 211 Taylor St., Suite 401-A, Port Townsend, WA 98368.
Entries require a name, mailing address, daytime phone and email address.
The 2014 festival — the 15th anniversary of the celluloid celebration — will screen about 80 films throughout the three days at a variety of venues in Port Townsend.
